Just as not all colleges are the same, not all Criminal Justice degree programs are created equal.
A recent survey showed that 69 percent of U.S. companies with 100 or more employees offered full-time jobs to their interns. So what does this mean for a student seeking a Criminal Justice degree?

On-the-job experience through Criminal Justice internships

Lincoln College of New England’s Associate and Bachelor of Science degree programs in Criminal Justice provide students with the opportunity, if they choose, to participate in a criminal justice-related internship, which allows them to gain valuable experience before starting their career.

The 150-hour internship opportunity provides students with experience in a variety of supervised field positions, depending on their interest in federal, state, or local law enforcement agencies, correctional facilities, private security firms or nonprofit organizations.

It is part of the LCNE philosophy that such experiences provide extraordinary value to our students. Research shows internships allow you to preview careers; improve your skills, confidence and work habits; expand your network of contacts; boost your resume and sometimes even increase your potential salary.

From the student perspective, one study of U.S. criminal justice interns found they most valued the knowledge about applied ethics and current racial issues gained from their experiences, in addition to improvements to their verbal communication skills, work ethics, work habits and initiative.

Graduates of the Criminal Justice programs are eligible to pursue careers with the U.S. Department of Corrections; state, county, local and military police departments; substance abuse treatment centers; customs and border patrol units; U.S. Homeland Security; the FBI; the Drug Enforcement Administration; the Transportation Security Administration and other organizations.
