Many correctional facilities and local law enforcement facilities have included an associate degree as a requirement for entry-level positions. Many public sector positions, such as probation require a bachelor’s degree for entry-level positions. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for police officers and other criminal justice positions is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2012.
“After graduating from high school, I knew that I wanted to go into law enforcement. At Briarwood I received the preparation needed to launch my career. I also appreciated the fact that at Briarwood you’re known by name, not as a number. It’s a friendly, caring place where faculty and staff go out of their way to help.” Robert Smurlo Criminal Justice Major Class of 2002 Robert is currently employed by the Greenwich, CT Police Department.
